Extended Bridge St. Walking Tour - Saturday, July 1 - 12:00-4:30pm
The Extended Bridge St. Walking Tour will have you visiting all 5 of the breweries on Bridge Street!
On the tour you will be sampling some of the finest beers in Beer
City and find out about the intriguing history of Grand Rapids beer culture on the historic west side. We'll be visiting New Holland's Knickerbocker, Broad Leaf Brewery, Jolly Pumpkin/North Peak, Kusterer Brauhaus & Atwater Brewery.
New Holland now has an expansive new location in Grand Rapids called the Knickerbocker! Originally opened in Holland, MI in 1996, New Holland Brewing Company is one of the oldest operating brewing companies in the west Michigan area. They have been gaining recognition with beers like Mad Hatter (IPA), The Poet (Oatmeal Stout) and Tangerine Space Machine (Citrusy IPA). These are some standards of New Holland Brewing Company for good reason. Beers such as Dragon's Milk (a bourbon barrel stout) has been gaining a large following as well.
Broad Leaf Brewery has a new taproom located on Bridge St., they have an awesome beer garden!. "We aim to produce exciting and unique beers of all sorts with a focus on new styles, process, and ingredients. Broad Leaf is a cousin brewery to Brewery Vivant and the same motivations and guidelines that inform Vivant arel also be practiced at Broad Leaf. Sustainable, Locally Sourced, Ethical, and Kind."
Cedar Springs Brewing Co's new taproom, Kusterer Brauhaus is housed in a Munich-style taproom on the historic West Side of Grand Rapids where several German and breweries existed prior to Prohibition. This stop can not be missed by any fans of Hefeweizens, Pilsners, Bocks, Marzens & Rauchbiers. They also brew amazing American influenced beers!
Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales & North Peak Brewing Co. Jolly Pumpkin is one of the most well-known wild/sour ale producers in the country! They make some of the most unique & tastiest sours around! If sours are not your thing (or at least you think they aren't) you will have the opportunity to order non-sour ales from North Peak
Brewing Co. at this stop as well. North Peak has IPA's, ambers, lagers, browns,
stouts & wheats! North Peak originally opened in Traverse City, Jolly Pumpkin in Dexter Michigan, now you won't have to journey to these locations, they're
right in the heart or Grand Rapids! At this stop you get to pick 1 pint & 1 sample.
Atwater Brewery was founded in March of 1997 with the purpose of carrying on the rich history of breweries in Detroit. Their brewing process, however, is over 200 years old. As Atwater Brewery expanded, it only made sense that they came to Beer City USA. They’ve set camp in Grand Rapids’ historic Rowe building to serve up a continually revolving tap list (including several beers made in Grand Rapids).
Tour includes 10 large samples & 1 pint of beer, a brewery tour at Kusterer Brauhaus, a walk with a knowledgeable beer tour guide providing beer history of Grand Rapids old and new.
